Herman’s House is a documentary that chronicles the friendship between artist Jackie Sumell and Mr. Herman Wallace, one of the political prisoners of the Angola 3. “What kind of house does a man who has lived in a 6×9′ box for 30 years dream of?” is the question that inspired a creative exchange between the two that has since become the focus of an internationally acclaimed art exhibit and tool for engaging audiences in dialogue and action to end the use of solitary confinement.
Speaking following the screening will be Angad Bhalla (the director of Herman’s House), and Five Mualimm-Ak (Organizer with the Campaign to End the New Jim Crow). There will be time for Q & A.
